Sandy Beach

Sandy Beach, also known as Savikko Park, is a historic part of the Juneau-Douglas area. Here you'll find a soft sandy beach, the Treadwell Mine Ruins, and hidden treasures amongst the brush. Right from the beach, you have views of downtown Juneau, the face of Mount Roberts, Gastineau Channel all the way out to Taku Inlet, and temperate rainforest.

A variety of wildlife can be spotted here, including eagles, ravens, black bear, squirrels, porcupine, and the occasional orca and sealion that find there way up the channel. This location is best in the morning and middle of the day due to the sun setting right behind the mountain, casting an early shadow.
