Mount Roberts

Accessible by a long hike or the Goldbelt Tram, Mount Roberts is a great location for views of downtown Juneau, the cruise docks, Gastineau Channel, Douglas Island, all the way out to Lynn Canal, and Mount Juneau. Two view points hang off the side of the steep mountain face just a five-minute walk from the tram. Another fifteen minutes up the mountain and you will find yourself at the cross look out. This is one of the only locations in town that requires a few to get to as the tram is about $60 per adult.

A variety of wildlife can be spotted here, including eagles, ravens, black bear, squirrels, porcupine, and a the occasional mountain goat. This is a great location for golden hour and sunset shots due to the great view of the sun dipping over Juneau. If you're early enough in the summer, there may even still be some patches of snow around.
