Nugget Falls​

Located in the Mendenhall Glacier National Park area, you get views of the Mendenhall Glacier across the lake, the towering surrounding mountains, Nugget Falls, and new growth forest. This area is only accessible on foot and is about a 30-minute walk from the visitor center along a beautiful paved path through new growth forest.

A variety of wildlife can be spotted here, including eagles, ravens, black bear, deer, squirrels, porcupine, mountain goats, a variety of small birds, and the rare wolf. The nearby area is used by the local Arctic terns as nesting grounds so you'll be sure to see the zipping about. This is an area to take caution since new mother bears raise their cubs nearby. The lighting is best in the middle of the day due to the towering mountains blocking sunset earlier than other areas.
